The spectacular Errigal Mountain is perhaps Donegal's most iconic landmark. At 751 metres, it is the highest peak in the Derryveagh mountains. A drive to the base of the mountain is a beautiful 20 minute drive from Dunfanaghy village.
From a distance, the summit looks as though it may be snow covered, but don't be mistaken, it is the quartzite rock which gives the mountain such a majestic look.
The mountain is most often climbed from a small car park on the R251. No special equipment is needed to make the climb, but good walking gear is essential, and care must be taken at all times.
